On January 14, 2024, Malayagam Canada members co-organized and participated in the Tamil Heritage Month / Thai Pongal Vizha celebration hosted by Ontario MPP for Markham-Thornhill, Logan Kanapathi.
As one of the first Tamil elected officials in Canadian history, Logan Kanapathi is a longtime advocate of Tamil human rights, and Malaiyaha Tamil rights in particular.
Malayagam Canada’s Director delivered a speech in person at Flato Markham Theatre in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada.
Our legal advisor participated by delivering a virtual talk from London, UK.
Both speeches highlighted the common values, and the different forms of marginalization, that Malaiyaha Tamils and North-Eastern Tamils have in common on the island known as Sri Lanka.
